Ah, Rayman. Never as popular or beloved as Mario or Sonic, but respected nonetheless. Your triumphant return in Rayman Origins after years of diluted spin-offs that abandoned you was most excellent, and it’s been hoped that its sequel Rayman Legends would follow its predecessor’s example of being available for all platforms.
As it turns out, Ubisoft is on the same page as us, seeing as they’ve announced that both the PS3 and Xbox 360 will be getting Legends. Both versions, along with the famed Wii U version, will be developed by Rayman Legends developer Ubisoft Montpellier.
EMEA Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Geoffroy Sardin claimed “we heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman Legends on their current system. We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”
With the grand amount of hype surrounding its “stunning visuals”, “innovative gameplay” and how it “retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor” while making necessary additions and changes in terms of characters, modes, locales and other aspects of presentation, Legends has quite an image to live up to. We’ll see if luck is on its side when all versions of the game hit stores in September 2013.
